DIY Fall Design Tips for Your Curb Appeal

With the arrival of fall, it’s a great opportunity to set up the outside of your home with fall decorations. Sprucing up your replacement windows and doors with some fun DIY projects can be a good way to begin the season and get in the mood for scarves, sweaters and pumpkin spice lattes.

Improve your curb appeal this season with these fun décor projects that are easy, new and on-trend:

Project #1: Corn Husk Garland
This decoration will add fantastic curb appeal to your home’s windows or doors, depending on where you would like to place the garland. Wherever you end up putting it, all this project takes is a few simple steps: determine the length of your rope (outlining your windows or door) with a few additional inches to get a droopy effect, and affix corn husks to the rope with a hot glue gun. Hang your new garland to accentuate your home access points!

Project #2: Door Wreath
Incorporate all the warm colors of fall into a DIY wreath to put on your door. The project requires a wooden stick wreath, burlap, artificial fall foliage, scissors and a glue gun. Here are the steps: Cut the burlap into four 4x4-inch squares. Then, fold and glue the burlap pieces throughout the wreath while gluing foliage in between the burlap sections.

Project #3: Welcome Sign
Make your home look warm and inviting this fall with a blackboard “Welcome” or “Happy Fall” sign outside of your door. Remind passersby what the season is really about and draw attention toward your festive fall entryway.

While adding fun DIY projects to the outside of your home is a fun way to get into the season spirit, remember to prepare your replacement doors and windows for the colder temps, too. They might look fantastic, but if your doors and windows are old or unprepared for the upcoming winter weather, they could let in cold drafts and leave you feeling cool in the upcoming months.
